Global medical tourism market size is projected to reach $292 billion by 2035 from $58.24 billion in 2025, according to Market Research Future. The market is projected to grow at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 18.2 percent during the 10-year period, the global market research company said in a new report.

The robust growth will be anchored by structural shifts in global healthcare access and patient mobility, the report said.
The market expansion is also propelled by three converging forces – the stark cost disparity in healthcare, the rapid expansion of world-class healthcare infrastructure in destination countries, and the increasing awareness of medical tourism options, supported by improved travel connectivity, digital health platforms, and personalized patient care services, it said.
The report said the low cost of medical treatment in developing countries has emerged as one of the most powerful drivers of the medical tourism market, encouraging patients from developed nations to seek care abroad where healthcare services are available at a fraction of the cost, while maintaining comparable quality.
In countries such as India, Thailand, Malaysia, Mexico, Turkey, and the Philippines, advanced medical procedures including cardiac surgery, orthopaedic interventions, cosmetic enhancements, fertility treatments, and dental care can cost 50–80 percent less than in the United States, Canada, or Western Europe, even after accounting for travel, accommodation, and additional expenses, the report said.
Government and multilateral health organizations are also amplifying this momentum, the report said, adding that the WHO global health datasets indicate that over 1.3 billion international tourist movements annually support cross-border healthcare accessibility.
