India, Thailand and Indonesia occupied the top three slots in the latest wellness destinations ranking by Travel and Tour World (TTW) for 2026.

Japan, Switzerland, Australia, Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and South Korea complete the global top ten global wellness destinations ranking released by TTW on May 16, 2026. The list reflects the growing diversity and innovation shaping the future of global wellness tourism.
The top 50 wellness destinations in the world that are ranked on the basis of holistic travel, luxury wellness, mindfulness tourism, and transformative healing experiences.
India secured the number one position in wellness travel ranking due to its globally recognized leadership in Ayurveda, yoga, spiritual wellness, meditation tourism, and holistic healing traditions, TTW said. “India leads the “longevity and preventive healthcare” trend, attracting discerning travellers who seek evidence-based, holistic wellness experiences, it said.
Thailand and Indonesia follow closely behind for their internationally renowned wellness resorts, tropical spa retreats, mindfulness tourism, and beach wellness experiences.
Meanwhile, destinations across Europe, including Switzerland, Iceland, Portugal, Finland, and Greece, are attracting travellers through alpine wellness, thermal healing, Nordic wellness lifestyles, sustainable luxury retreats, and nature immersion experiences, TTW said.
Countries in Oceania, Africa, North America, and South America are also rapidly expanding their wellness tourism offerings with eco-retreats, adventure wellness, rainforest healing, safari wellness, and coastal rejuvenation experiences.
The global wellness tourism market in 2026 is projected to be one of the fastest-growing sectors within the travel industry, with the market valued at nearly USD 1 trillion highlighting the increasing integration of wellness into travel, hospitality, healthcare, and lifestyle industries. Wellness tourists are estimated to spend more per trip than conventional travelers, driven by demand for luxury wellness resorts, spa retreats, preventive healthcare programs, yoga and meditation retreats, thermal therapies, digital detox escapes, and longevity-focused experiences.
