Outdoor fitness classes, health talks, women’s health seminars, family picnics in local community parks and healing arts centres across the globe marked this year’s Global Wellness Day (GWD) celebrations on June 11.
Global Wellness Day is celebrated annually on the second Saturday in June, focusing on promoting preventative health and holistic self-care. Driven by the ethos, “one day can change your whole life”, media reports highlighted how individuals and communities in over 100 countries celebrated the event, focussing on mental and physical well-being.

Global Wellness Day celebrations, now in its 11th year, aim is to direct the thoughts of both individuals and society towards “healthy living” and to raise awareness about sane lifestyles. Moreover, the initiative also acts to inspire individuals to pause and think about their habits, and take those healthy actions, not just for a day, but for the rest of the year.
“Everyone deserves the opportunity to be proactive with their own self-care and making small changes can have significant effects on one’s overall health,” says Anne Dimon, co-founder, president & CEO of the Wellness Tourism Association.
Celebrated on the second Saturday of June every year, the event takes place in more than 100 countries simultaneously and promotes a balanced lifestyle around the globe.
