India and Vietnam signed a cultural exchange programme for 2026–2030, reinforcing their partnership with specific initiatives to boost two-way medical and wellness tourism. The agreement focuses on strengthening bilateral ties through health, tourism, and increased flight connectivity, according to media release issued by Government of India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB).

The programme supports increased medical tourism between the two nations, encouraging cooperation in health regulation and traditional medicine.

The agreement was signed during the state visit of To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on May 5-7, 2026. The two countries also signed several other agreements during the visit, aimed at deepening cooperation across sectors.

The agreements also envisage promotion of bilateral cultural and religious tourism, enhanced connectivity by encouraging civil aviation authorities of the two countries to increase direct flights to facilitate tourism and stepping up of training and marketing efforts in the tourism sector.

India also welcomed Vietnam’s support in hosting International Day of Yoga events, with plans to strengthen cooperation among yoga institutions.
